Within the noun phrase, nouns share features such a gender, number, and case with their modifiers; in the clause, similar relationships hold between arguments and predicates. My work in this area evaluates the implications of reducing these two kinds of feature sharing to the same mechanism. More broadly, I am interested in how features are distributed across syntactic structures, and what these patterns reveals about the structures themselves.

Submitted. (with Ad Neeleman) Competing structures contribute to BCMS conjunct-ordering preferences.
Some feature conflicts that would otherwise lead to ungrammaticality disappear when the offending material is elided. My work examines how and why ellipsis can produce these repair effects.
